That is really sad how he had to leave his own mother in their hometown. The problem with the soldiers and the SPLA hurt the lives of many civilians physically and emotionally. I wouldn't know where to get my strength from if i were ripped apart from my own mother and abandoned my best friends.

Heart of Darkness

At first i thought it would be a quick easy read by looking at the size of this book. But this book proves that size really doesn't matter. aha. Its description is highly admirable. and we start off the journey in a boat with a group of men. Marlow, the protagonist, is an interesting man. He is a man of the sea. These books are quite similar because they both are enduring on journeys. But that is just the exterior of it. Marlow go the job off of a fluke mistake. The captain of a Belgium Company ship got killed by a chiefs son over a dispute of hens. He travels to Belgium to sit in a creepy mysterious waiting room with 2 weirdo ladies. They aren’t your typical receptionist.

Blog #11: What is the What

This book starts off really intense I love it. Already Some couple busts through his door. Talk about rude haha. I find it odd how he calls them guests and friends. I hope he doesn't see them that way after all they have done to him. I Really liked when he said that when someone does something wrong in his presence he started to tell them stories of how he was brought up. That really made me laugh because most people in America will punch you in the face and walk away. But he wants to sit and tell them stories for it. He is quite the gentlemen when it comes to ladies, especially Amath. I like how this book was written how we are in the present, then we switch to his journey, really keeps things going. Since i think i will run out of time with my reading, but I'm not sure I am going to start to read Heart of Darkness as well. Wish me luck.

Chapter 11 (Part 3)

The END aww man kinda sad how it ended. He and Julia still knew but couldn't find it in themselves to love each other. From all those rats and stuff I would be pretty scared if i were him too. Well i kind thought he would break down and obey, even though i was totally against that. I still cant really get the symbolism of the song "Under the Chestnut Tree." I'll have to ask someone about that. Its sad how he an only see his family if it is a depressing flashback. Kinda feel bad for him. Well I'm off to read What is the What by Dave Eggars and Heart of Darkness . I'm already about one hundred pages into Whats is the What. I'll be back on tomorrow and tell you about it. Bye

Chapter 8-10 (Part 3)

Holy crap. This chunk of the book is really intense. Going from torturing, brainwashing, “revival”, remembering, losing, than accepting. O’Brien takes him to Room 101, which is basically your worst nightmares. I cant believe that Winston threw his one “true love Julia under the bus to take the wraps for him. His fear of rats got to his head. How upsetting. I wonder what happens in the end when he is set free. He brought this upon himself. He shouldn’t have trusted anybody with all the crooked stuff he was doing before. I guess he couldn’t resist the temptation.. Will he reunite with Julia? I really hope not cause that would be all bad and probably cause his death sentence.

Chapter 1-2 (Part 3)

Pardon my French, but the ministry of Love is Bad Ass. They are way more hard core with rules than I expected. It is like torturous. But anyway, O'Brien is one of them!! That blindsided me so badley. In the cell he is being held in is so unsanitary. He also sees his friend Tom Parsons, and Ampleforth. Beggers being beated for eating crumps of bread, Tom being caught by his own kids. The prisoners are beaten, starved and disabled, so they could be molded into drones that will follow every word of the Party. Does Big Brother actually exist? What is the Parties Scheme? Does 2 and 2 really make 5? Ahha jk but this is crazy. I wonder what’s in room 101!!!

Chapter 8-10 (Part 2)

Soo. Winston if finally going to O'Brien house. Julia trying to be sneaky takes a different route. They talk about the rebellion. O'Brien is acting kinda weird when he asks Winston questions all intensely and what not. Seems like more of an interrogation than a companionship. It was sooooo dumb that Winston gave his secret hiding place away so freely. Should have soo must trust in a guy you just met. he is reading the book.. about the past times. Its kind of confusing but i get it for the most part. OMG they arrested him.. he is soo dead for all this crooked stuff hes been doing. Poor Winston. I wonder what they're going to do to him.

Chapter 5-7 (Part 2)

SYME is gone!! Ahah kinda mysterious what happened to him. O’Brien finally gets to exchange a couple of words with Winston. They should be meting up soon so they can finally start to form the rebellion. Kinda sad how Winston and his mom separated forever. Over chocolate and his greed, cause of male dominance.

Chapter 3-4 (Part 2)

The next morning Julia gets ready for work quickly, but before they are both off they exchange words about themselves. We find out Julia works for the Fiction Department. She has created porno stories for the proles. Men wouldn’t have jobs such as this one because they would be more prone to desire sex more. Winston than talks about his, “goodthinkful,” wife Katharine. He complained how there was no emotion in their marriage. She just did her duties to the party population the party members with new blood. It was pretty scary when he mentions wanting to kill her and Julia agrees. Kinda creepy how society was like then. It is obvious they won’t be together much longer; for I bet in Part 3 of the novel they will be caught and be tortured in the Ministry of Love. Winston back in his secret room hears the fat prole lady singing. This song has a strong significance, witch I believe symbolized freedom or love, just like his ulcer which dies down when he is around Julia. Julia knows the song the lady is singing and Winston is amazed. Cant wait to read on J

Chapter 1-2 (Part 2)

WooW Winston struck gold in these chapters. He got what he has been wanting this whole time. To an extent that is. I really don’t believe the relationship with Julia is what Winston wants. He wants a companion to love. Julia is just a booty call and is just into her and being a badass. She has probably broken these rules like this numerous times. With her skill in communicating to others by “falling down”, and knowing the secret location to get it on she seems fishy. Winston is turned on by the rebelliousness inside of her and is blinded by that. They are breaking major rules and will be subjected to consequences that are unheard in our time. Crazy stuff is happening and it is obvious they will get caught. Or else there wouldn’t be a 3^rd part of the book.

Chapter 6-8

Winston is always in need of a woman to hold it seems. But the law doesn’t allow him to show any signs of affection. I wouldn’t like to be in his world at all. He thinks of his wife and how they got married to populate the Parties instead of affectionate sex. It kills Winston inside to not have a companion to show the same attractions. He used to call Catherine the “human soundtrack.” At first I didn’t understand what it meant but later in the book, music represents his desires and wants. He really liked her. Oh well I hope he finds someone better. He believes the “hope is in the proles.” I wonder why he thinks they are the only ones to fight back. They haven’t tried to rebel before, what makes u think they will later. They need a leader. Maybe O’Brien can be that leader. He is turning more to the rebel side by renting out that room above Mr. Charrington’s antique shop, where he bought this extravagant paper weight. It’s kinda suspicious how there isn’t a telescreen in that building. It must be hiding somewhere. And the significance of the song hasn’t popped in my head yet.. I must read on!! Its getting more and more interesting.

Blog #2: 1984

Chapter 2-5

The book, as I read on is beginning to get more and more interesting. It keeps me going. I’m actually way further than chapter 5, but if I blogged each day I read, I wouldn’t have enough blogs to meet the quota.

Winston is dreaming about his mother, and her death. I want to know what it symbolizes in the book. It is suspicious how he thinks of the death of his mother as a calamity. The golden country is being brought up as well. I wonder where that place could be, because from what I see there isn’t a golden place in this book. Hah. The rest of the couple chapters go into detail about what he actually does in his work. Even Party employees live in fear taking work to seriously and in seclusion. After changing the past by making up a story of his fictional character he goes eats lunch with his friend, no no I mean Comrades. Syme goes on and on about how he and his department are working on changing the language to a shorter and simpler way. Mr. Parson rants about having good children catching bad guys. I wonder if he is scared of living with kids so into their work. The screen then tells them to get back to work

Blog #1: 1984

Chapters 1-2

As I first started reading the first couple of pages of the book, it struck me as lifeless and boring. Reading more into the first chapter I didn’t know how right I was going to be. Because ironically, the only life that is allowed at Oceania in 1984 is completely drab. Winston, the antagonist, is not the average common man in this society. He has the mindset of a rebel, against the central power, to take down BIG BROTHER. Winston isn’t easily brainwashed by the propaganda plastered throughout the town on telescreens. Big Brothers slogans are oxy morons showing the ignorance in the whole Brother system.. Winston even takes radical measures by writing in a diary, which was inspired by O’Brien. Winston read his emotions and felt that they had same anti-Party feelings. I wonder if this is true or can it be a huge set up.

The weirdest thought I found in this chapter was how the kids are manipulated at such a young age. Mrs. Parsons 2 kids are members of the Spies and the Youth league. Their own mom is afraid of them, living in fear of being taken to the Thought Police. The Big Brother guy is very powerful, but still hasn’t come out to show himself. Hopefully he will appear once, so we can see what kind of man he really is, and why start the HATE off at such a young age.
